United Way of Greater New Haven’s ‘Week of Caring’

Volunteers support families and individuals staying in shelters during United Way of Greater New Haven’s ‘Week of Caring

Volunteers from United Way of Greater New Haven rolled up their sleeves to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness during a ‘Week of Caring’.

This year, the week-long event was dedicated to mobilizing volunteers to show support for families and individuals going through the shelter system and waiting to find a permanent place to live. Over four days of activities, volunteers were able to collect donated items for families experiencing homelessness, clean up and beautify the Women and Family Life’s outdoor space, paint and clean up Youth Continuum’s drop-in center, and reorganize two of Columbus House’s donation closets.

The week of giving back was made possible through the partnership of the organizations who hosted the volunteers, and the support of event sponsors, including Yale University, Yale New Haven Hospital, Industrial Flow Solutions, Comcast NBC Universal, Eversource, and Nationwide Foundation.

United Way of Greater New Haven connects volunteers, community members, and other residents to local meaningful opportunities to better our communities. To volunteer or learn more about United Way, visit uwgnh.org.
